Abstract
Vocabulary is important to be learnt. Better level of teaching vocabulary means better teaching of a language. The aim of this research is to make an effective teaching vocabulary to eighth grade students of SMP N 30 Banjarmasin using guessing game. This research was using quantitative research. The technique of collecting data in this research was test. It consisted of two test; Pre-test and Post-test. The findings of this research states that there was a significance in the students‟ score learning vocabulary using guessing game. It could be seen from the result of ttest is 3.79 and the result of ttable is 1.69 with the degree of freedom is 33. It means ttest higher than ttable. In order word, guessing game technique is effective in teaching vocabulary for the eighth grade of junior high school.
