Abstract
Reading is one of the four major skills in mastering English, state that reading is a receptive skill. It means when a person read a text, that person tries to respond to the text, rather than producing it. To respond to a text, a reader should make sense of the text. The reader needs to understand the language of the text at word level, sentence level and whole-text level.The purpose of the research is what are the common of the students‟ problem in comprehending reading fairy tale text Banjarmasin school year 2017/2018. To achieve the purpose, the researcher used descriptive quantitative design. The population of this research is all students, there are one class at the seventh grade, and there are 168 Students at the seventh grade of Mts Al Inayatuhtalibin Banjarmasin. The sample of the research were 27 students‟.In collecting data, the researcher used a test as an instrument. To analyze of students problems in reading, the writer takes multiple choice in the paper that is given as the test. The result shows that the students made an error of five aspect they are main idea is 35,18% from 27 students, vocabulary error to 24,07%, specific information 45,37%, inference 56,48% and reference 48,14% from 27 student at seventh grade of Mts Al-Inayatuthalibin. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the students have not mastered on reading especially on inference as the one of five aspect on reading.
