Abstract
This research was conducted to determine the role and constraints of certain Criminal Unit Hulu Sungai Tengah District Police in investigating the crime of forest destruction in the jurisdiction of the Central Hulu Sungai Regency after the birth of Law Number 18 of 2013 This type of research is Empirical namely research based on facts in the field or real events in society. The approach used is juridical empirical, this approach method uses interview method, data collection and literature study, this research is descriptive. The results of this study are expected as input for the Head of the Forestry Service in the Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency and the Chief of Police in the Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency in carrying out the investigation of the crime of forest destruction. Based on the results of an interview with one of the traditional leaders of the pembakal (Kades) in the Hulu Sungai Tengah district, he mentioned that the majority of the population are Dayaks where in farming or gardening a quick way to clear land by burning the land this action is carried out from generation to generation so Law Number 18 of 2013 in Investigating Criminal Acts of Forest Destruction in the Legal Area of Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency has not been optimal.
